Use an application password instead
Connect without browser sign-in, for sites without HTTPS or tools that cannot open a browser.
Updated 8 October 2026
An application password is a key that WordPress creates for one tool. Use one when browser sign-in is not possible: the site has no HTTPS, or the tool cannot sign in through a browser.
The key works as you until you revoke it, so treat it like a password.
Create the key
- Go to Divi → MCP for Divi 5 and open the Connect your tool step.
- Pick your tool.
- Open Use an application password instead and click Create an application password.
- Copy the config that now contains the key.
The key is shown only once. Copy the config before you leave the page.
Already have a key? Paste it into Or enter one you already have. It stays in that browser tab.
Add the config to your tool
The screen shows the exact text for your tool, with your key already in it.
- Claude Code: run the command in your terminal.
- Claude desktop app: open Settings → Developer → Edit Config, add the text to
claude_desktop_config.jsonand restart Claude. This route needs Node.js installed on your computer. - ChatGPT Codex: add the text to
~/.codex/config.tomland restart Codex. The Codex command line, IDE extension and app all share this file. - Cursor: add the text to
~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to.cursor/mcp.jsonin your project, and restart Cursor.
To go back to browser sign-in, click Switch back to browser sign-in.
Revoke the key
Go to Users → Profile, find Application Passwords and revoke the key named MCP for Divi 5.
A connection made with a key does not appear under Connected apps. That list shows browser sign-ins only, so revoking the key is how you cut it off.
If the button is missing
If the screen says application passwords are turned off, WordPress only allows them over HTTPS, and a security plugin can also disable them. Turn them back on, or use browser sign-in on an HTTPS site.
