# Install MCP for Divi 5

Requirements, uploading the plugin and finding its connection screen under the Divi menu.

MCP for Divi 5 is a normal WordPress plugin. It lets Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants build and edit Divi 5 pages on your site. MCP is the Model Context Protocol, the standard way AI tools talk to other software.

## Before you start

- Divi 5.14 or later, active as the theme. Divi 4 and earlier Divi 5 releases are not supported.
- WordPress 6.5 or later.
- PHP 7.4 or later.
- A WordPress account that can edit pages, such as an Editor or an Administrator. The AI tool works as the person who approves it, with that person’s permissions.

For browser sign-in the site also needs HTTPS and a permalink setting other than Plain. Without those you can still connect with an [application password](https://divicake.com/docs/mcp-for-divi/use-an-application-password-instead/).

## Install it

- Download the plugin zip from your account. [Where to find your downloads](https://divicake.com/docs/account/find-your-downloads/) shows where it is.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New and click Upload Plugin.
- Choose the zip and click Install Now.
- Click Activate Plugin.

## Open the connection screen

Go to Divi → MCP for Divi 5. It walks you through adding your licence, checking your site, connecting your AI tool and trying it. The licence step shows only to administrators.

If Divi 5 is not active, or is older than 5.14, WordPress shows a warning saying so. Without Divi 5 the screen moves to the Tools menu until Divi 5 is on.
