## Divi theme detector questions, answered

How does the detector know a site uses Divi?

It reads the page the way a browser would and looks for the markers Divi leaves in the HTML: the classes Divi adds to the page body, the generator tag Elegant Themes themes print, and the paths of Divi's own files. Divi 5 loads files from a folder Divi 4 does not have, which is how the two are told apart.

Why does it say the version is hidden?

Divi adds its version number to the files it loads, and caching plugins often replace or remove those numbers. When that happens the detector can still see Divi, but not which release.

Why does it say the site blocks automated checks?

Some sites put a bot check in front of every request, or refuse requests that do not come from a browser. The detector reads the page once and does not try to get around that, so it cannot tell you anything about those sites.

Does it show every plugin the site uses?

No. It lists the known Divi plugins whose files the page you entered loads. A plugin used only on other pages, or one that loads nothing on the front end, will not show up. Try the page where you saw the feature you are curious about.

Can it tell a child theme from Divi itself?

Yes. When a child theme is active, the page loads its stylesheet from its own folder. The detector reads that stylesheet's header to get the child theme's name and confirm it runs on Divi or Extra.
