Alt text nobody wrote. Four slightly different blues. A hero section that looks right on desktop and cramped on a phone. None of it is hard, and all of it is clicking. On September 3, 2026, Elegant Themes [released Divi AI Agents](https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/theme-releases/introducing-divi-ai-agents) for Divi 5. It is a command box inside the Visual Builder: you describe the change in plain language and the agent makes it on the page, in real Divi sections, rows, and modules you can keep editing. We read the announcement and the product page, checked the pricing, and worked out what it is good for and where it is not there yet. Here is the full picture. ## What Divi AI Agents actually are Elegant Themes describes the agent as an intelligent command interface built into Divi 5 that understands natural language and takes real actions in the builder and the WordPress admin. In practice it is a chat panel. You open it with the Agent toggle in the Visual Builder toolbar, type what you want, and watch it work on the canvas. Three details matter more than the marketing: - It has two modes. Ask mode answers questions and suggests changes without touching your layout. Build mode makes the changes. You can start in Ask, then switch to Build once you like the plan. - It asks before doing damage. Elegant Themes says the agent uses human-in-the-loop approval for destructive and high-impact actions, so deleting a section or unpublishing a page needs your confirmation. - It is not one generic AI. The agent runs on more than 200 purpose-built skills for Divi and WordPress (220+ by the announcement’s count): reading modules, changing settings, managing presets and global variables, controlling the Theme Builder, searching the Divi documentation. For bigger jobs it spins up subagents that research modules, scaffold sections, and apply styles in parallel. You also choose the model. Elegant Themes says you can pick from 400+ models or let Divi select one for the task, with the usual trade-off: stronger models for complex builds, cheaper and faster ones for simple edits. ## What you can ask it to do The announcement groups the agent’s work into four areas. These are the ones we would actually use. ### Build a layout from almost anything Describe a section in a sentence, paste a screenshot or a mockup, or give it a URL, and it builds real Divi sections, rows, modules, and styles. The output is editable Divi, not an image or a block of code, so you refine it the normal way afterwards. ### Edit what is already on the page Redesign a hero, rearrange modules, change colors, adjust typography, rewrite copy, fix spacing. The agent works with global variables and presets too, so you can tell it to consolidate repeated styles into a preset or replace hard-coded values with variables. Elegant Themes’ line for this is that something which took dozens of clicks is now one sentence away. ### Run page-wide cleanups This is the part that will save the most time. The announcement lists these as single-prompt jobs: - Add missing alt text and improve accessibility settings - Find inconsistent colors and consolidate them into global variables - Standardize typography, spacing, buttons, and other repeated styles - Improve responsive layouts across desktop, tablet, and phone - Fix spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization - Refine messaging and calls to action across an entire page - Find oversized images and other inefficient assets - Review custom CSS and JavaScript and clean up unnecessary code ### Manage WordPress without leaving the builder The agent can create, update, duplicate, publish, unpublish, and schedule pages and posts, and it handles menus, Theme Builder templates, Divi Library items, and Theme Options. The examples Elegant Themes gives are the clearest way to show it: - “Create a new Services page as a draft and add it to the main menu” - “Schedule this blog post for next Tuesday at 9 am” - “Find all unpublished pages and give me their edit links” - “Duplicate the About page and rename the copy to Our Team” It doubles as support. Ask it whether to use Flexbox or Grid for a section, what the difference is between presets, variables, and global elements, or why a Theme Builder template is not applying, and it searches the documentation and inspects your actual page to answer. ## Rules, commands, and context Three features turn one-off prompts into a workflow, and they are worth setting up on day one. - Rules. Persistent instructions the agent follows in every conversation on a site: brand voice, which design variables to use, layout conventions. Set them once. - Commands. Save a prompt you run often and trigger it with a slash, the same way you would in Slack. Accessibility checks, responsive cleanup, and content reviews are the obvious candidates. - Context. Type @ to pull in a page, module, media item, or other site content, or click an element on the canvas to add it to the prompt. The more specific the context, the better the result. Conversation history is kept, so you can pick a job back up later without re-explaining the site. ## Where it falls short right now Some of this is Elegant Themes being upfront, and some is our reading of the launch. Both belong in a buying decision. - Divi 5 only. The agent is a Divi 5 feature and there is no Divi 4 version. If your site is still on Divi 4, the migration comes first. Elegant Themes says so itself: the outside-the-builder skills are currently limited because the launch focus was the builder. Expect page and menu management to work. Do not expect it to run your whole wp-admin. - Usage is metered. Every membership includes $5 of agent spend per month.
